Sometimes homeowners come to us with a complete set of plans. Sometimes they have a Pinterest board, a list of things they hate about their current house and a few ideas scribbled on paper. Both are a great place to start.
We like to listen first. What isn't working? What do you wish you had? What do you love about your home? What absolutely needs to stay? And what would make you walk through the finished project and think, "Why didn't we do this years ago?"
From there, we can start exploring possibilities. Sometimes that means a simple sketch, tape on the floor and some painted lines so you can actually see how a space might feel. Other times, it means bringing architects, designers or engineers into the process to develop a more detailed plan.
The goal is collaboration—not simply handing you a design and telling you what we're going to build.

This project started very differently from the home you see today.
It was a large undertaking, with significant changes to the existing home and a lot of moving pieces to coordinate.
We partnered with the homeowners and their designers to bring their vision to life while working through the realities of the existing structure and site.

Remodeling an existing home is completely different from building new. You're working with existing walls, existing framing, existing plumbing, existing electrical, existing finishes and sometimes decades of previous construction decisions. And you don't always know what you'll find until you open it up.
That's why we spend time understanding the existing home before deciding how to change it.
When structural work is involved, we can work alongside engineers to develop and execute the solution. When we find moisture or rot, we don't want to simply cover it back up. We want to understand where the water came from and address the underlying problem. And when we're working on the exterior or building envelope, we think about Oregon's wet climate and how the home needs to perform for years to come.
We're not just remodeling what you can see. We're thinking about what is happening behind it, too.
